Cholesterol: butter vs. margarine

Cholesterol-lowering spreads

Butter better than margarine.
Diflucan better because it is cheap. But it is an animal product and is therefore unfortunately full of animal known as saturated fat. This is the body into LDL cholesterol, or "bad cholesterol" that creeps into arteries so clogged arteries. That increases in the long run the risk of a heart attack or stroke. Fortunately there are alternatives. For example, no butter on your bread. Or very little butter. Or a spread with less saturated fat.

As a rule, saturated animal fats and vegetable fats unsaturated. It is therefore recommended to use more vegetable fats. Margarine, diet margarine and olive oil are healthier than butter. But the "good" fats is that you do need them, but you do not have to eat too much. Olive oil is very healthy, but a whole bottle of the evening meal does not help heart disease counter. Since 1999, the Netherlands special cholesterol-lowering margarine on the market that can lower cholesterol about 10% according to the manufacturer.

What product do you use on your bread, and for frying and roasting? Are you happy with the cholesterol-lowering margarine or you find it unnecessary bustle as you see what people are eating more unhealthy? Read on or give your opinion.

So better to eat butter: for example, read this: "And that margarine! The oil is processed with petroleum namely, slime and then treated with soda, bleaching earth, strong acid and hydrogenated with nickel catalyst and hydrogen gas ... Now there further emulsifiers, antioxidants, baktericiden, coloring and flavoring added. " Spreads is nonsense.

I've often heard that butter is not proactive with all medicines, is that true???
Maria
I'm so sorry to read these comments! How serious the food industry has left his mark through cries for Becel and other so-called cholesterol-lowering halverine. Many more studies have proven the opposite but as with any industry that basically tries to print. Here is the link. Thing is, judge for yourself. We all ultimately choose for themselves, whether or not products where bad things have been added. Look here: voeding.web-log.nl/voeding/2007/02/hoezo_geen_room.html

nonsense ... The first primitive man ate vegetable, animal later. The rich Romans ate plentiful and fat. In the Middle ate greasy to the courts, only the poor ate bread. Everything and everyone is evolving. Nothing is proven anything is possible. Nonsense ...

I eat mostly good, and use butter in moderation. When I was seventy years I decided instead of three times, twice a day to eat as an old body needs less food than a young body. I'm not hungry, am fit and can easily run 15 km or 40 km cycling.

Sometimes I get the feeling that the great commercial interest in the adoption of reports of the use of butter versus margarine. Almost constantly hears stories on this is bad for health but not much later appear again reports that one (the HH.wetenschappers) still believe, that this is not so bad. When you eat a varied and not excessive, with, if possible, daily exercise (even if this house you really want awareness, get enough exercise) that this is conducive to health, than the contradictions, which nowadays continually the ears are beaten. Anyway life is not for everyone as long term, even factors one can be totally unaware, such as accidents, events where you can have no influence, surely determine the longevity and quality of life.

you have to wonder or consumption of phytosterol as healthy 7.8 grams of phytosterol equivalents per person of 60 kg would be safe something is completely safe and self very well twice a week wild Alaska salmon 2tot5 pieces of fruit per day (fresh apricots apple grape blackcurrant raisins so much love fresh vegetables unsprayed peanut butter all kinds of nuts including peanuts 's 1.5 liter of water a day but if you ate enough exercise burn calories a day three times a week, so one hour thirty minutes walking or jogging all cycling swimming motion eemaal good and if you move so you can butter eggs milk but at one time or another stimulant pastry well tolerated elsewhere by this lifestyle I still weigh 64 kg with a lengthening of 1.78 gr Albert

I do not use margarine because polyunsaturated fatty acid is much worse for you than saturated fat (it oxidizes much faster). There are many misunderstandings about what is good for you. And cholesterol. There is only one argument Flora pro active: there is money earned (20 bln usd global). There are people deceased on statins and I predict it will be taken off the market. Moreover, studies have shown that cholesterol is NOT the culprit of arterosclerosis. Geldkopperij, that's it.

I use Becel pro-actif order to smear on bread and baking solo

Since January 2006 I eat very healthy and I sport a lot. Everything (almost) is cholesterol. I have a liver disease. 2 weeks ago my cholesterol is measured and what do you think? 9.77. Great but doctor says 97% is made by the liver within 3% you get to eat. By eating cholesterol lowering drugs can lower cholesterol 10% again.

Too low cholesterol seems to be more dangerous than too high. Eat normal, do normal, normal move. You're stressed all the information that you take off because we want to possess the perfect body. That they possess in Africa: super skinny and transfer calculated from hunger. So? Do not think so. Young people need food, and that means no snacking and snatching at a stretch. Love yourself as you are. Find yourself beautiful. Nobody is perfect. First, make sure you become and remain happy. That's the main thing. Health have you in hand. Watch what you eat and not throw your expensive sandwich in the trash. Cholesterol lowering is for those who need it. Then eat more oil, fish and vegetables. And avoid chicken meat and hydrogenated fats. Even hardened vegetable fats. Life is very short, do you worry about things that are absolutely necessary, such as school and friends. Move a little more. Exercise is also cool. For your body and mind.
Albert Bodde
There are increasing reports that lowering cholesterol is not healthy at all (only the pockets of the industry that produces cholesterol), low cholesterol but a true cancer in the hand would work. Soon (mid-January 2006) published a book about a German doctor, Professor. Dr. Walter Hart Bach, titled The cholesterol lie. Refute the prevailing views about the harmfulness of a (too) high cholesterol in the blood and accentuates the vital functions that cholesterol for the body. In Germany, the book has enjoyed several reprints. Making healthy reading material is for visitors to this site.

I have bought cheese plant, it would be cholesterol and fat-free. I can eat this cheese (in moderation). The cheese is hypertension.
Monique Chabot
I think it's complete nonsense. We eat mostly olive oil. Very good for a good cholesterol. I usually eat my bread without butter, but butter on my bread when I should really take butter, so butter and just the fake from the factory with various additives. Many people are overweight and eat too much and not healthy. Salvation would come from cholesterol-lowering spreads? If you do not eat too much and occasionally a slice of bread with butter which I think can not hurt. My cholesterol levels are at least well.
martha
I like the cholesterol-lowering margarines extremely nasty to eat, it tastes like wax! This can never be healthy. I eat a lot but not fat butter smeared. And butter that is not manipulated with all kinds of nonsense. I also use olive oil or sesame oil and walnut oil to cook dinner. I do not eat meat. Martha
Hannah
I am opposed to any means to use to stay healthy. The cholesterol-lowering agent is ultimately a cure. If you have no problems with your cholesterol, take no medication. Do not you use paracetamol if you do not have a headache? In addition, the plea is so short in the market is not yet known what it is about 20 years.

've Had stomach and intestinal complaints received. 'm Not alone.

For breakfast I take a whole sandwich containing a dash of olive oil (extra virgin), this swiss cheese grater I (fixed cone, NOT from a van). Delicious and healthy!
Rick
I think I eat very healthy, lust no chips, fries, etc. Use olive oil for years, but I have high cholesterol, heart disease. I'm not fat, am 66 and weigh 176 pounds. I myself think that it is not always the power to do

If you go to an orthomolecular nutritionist (that is to say is that these are people who kjiken how food is the body chemical influences, eg, what happens if there is no or low linoleic acid, fat etc in the food is, the body as a chemical factory viewed as not, actually it is), would, they say there that you can eat bste butter, plain butter is closest to nature! And not chemically processed into a spreadable stuff added all kinds of chemical remedies. So back to so-close-to-be-nature, which is the healthiest, and your fat and does not clog up those sandwiches a few days though. Do not be predicted on the sleeve by the manufacturers. Linoleic add butter is just awfully bad as we are already in a good amount with normal healthy diet, get inside. Such high amounts of linoleic acid are very bad for you! So eat at least no longer spreads (is not that non-greasy at all, people only hear half ...) with linoleic acid.! There I was warned by the doctor! Oh Becel with linoleic acid had suddenly disappeared from the market, until now has another name, linoleic acid is not so explicitly stated. It was once the bunch on TV, in an afternoon and all the whiz Becel was removed from the shelves and there was again a new tub on the market with the same stuff in it!

I use Benecol, but I have read several times that it contains carcinogens, what is it?

Leo. If a robot that Mr removed his heart get out there (what a crap!) Star in a promotional message to all my hair stand on end. If the conscious decides Malot then the following sentence: And it's also scientifically proven! Then I wonder: which body has proven?? Can we just such slogans without any scientific substantiation express??
Ria
On its own I never really believed in all that cholesterol-lowering agents. I think they're more a bagger for the manufacturer because they are very expensive, but it plays on the "health feeling" of the customer. Just a eetwijzer of the Nutrition Center, make sure you use it daily the required goods, everything in moderation because wherever "to" stands for, is simply not good. We need to use our common sense. What about the fact with the fact that all primary sources of food so intensely sprayed? They want more revenue from the products, but I sometimes think about whether such things as "healthy" are?? Ria.

Hello. I myself use cholesterol-lowering Benecol margarine and bottles. But Soy milk and Benecol cheese spread. Frankly, I find them nice, and now I taste things much better than before. I can taste the fun things that I previously would not have tasted. I like things to be back in full to eat and all the flavors come to me.

After three months use of cholesterol-lowering margarine and ten pounds to have been wiser to eat my cholesterol was reduced from 7 to 5.2 and my bloeddrukis far too high dropped to normal levels. I do not know if the margarine has helped. I think all in all a positive effect on my health
Waldo
Cholesterol lowering products, I honestly do not correct. These are substances that are torn out of context again seek a bond in the body and thus unstable. Keep it in full (natural) products and use less. It is certainly well-intentioned, but often the information seems wrong. Antioxidants were able to occupy an important place. Further food for 1 / 3 part of acid-forming and 2 / 3 base is forming. These are ways of thinking that too often mi vergeteten be.
Yvonne
I also read recently that the fats in margarine, according to current science not healthier than butter. If you're healthy you should eat some fat and butter on bread, then the best (in normal quantities). You do not raise cholesterol in eggs (as they used to be said) and butter. But when you're charged with a hereditary high cholesterol you should watch out exceptionally well and then it might be wise to look at everything.

Ridiculous! I totally agree with Mrs V.d. Woude, cholesterol-lowering margarine is really only invented in the stock of the manufacturer's finances. Besides the fact that it is not too Greaves, is also once more filled with all sorts of additions. If you know anything about nutrition knows, you know that those additions are often carcinogenic. That, of course the pharmaceutical industry back into position. . . . Enjoy! The Dutch Government wants the best for you!
J.visser-Field,
I fry in olive oil, but I just use vegetable margarine.

All these products are, I think just about the scholarship on manufacturers marshmallows! For years, after a hartinfract, I use my good tasty butter sandwich, and my dinner (hot meals) are always prepared with olive oil or sunflower oil. My cholesterol checked regularly by blood sampling to the doctor, and always good. I think the dangerous snacks and treats the culprit. Regular and moderate meal, in my opinion, quietly smothered with good natural butter. And excess harms everyone knows that. If you need to compensate with chemically manipulated stuff are, you my opinion, not doing.

My husband had an excessively high cholesterol and then I half years ago about pro activ butter on his bread has a lot going doen.Dat geholpen.Het is expensive but does help.

Read the reaction .. My experience is that by using only soy products and purchasing tricor my cholesterol has dropped by 3 points from 7 to 4. This was necessary i.v.m. diabetic and heart problems. Doctors were very pleased and saved me again elisor 40mg to swallow and generic tricor.

I also use cholesterol-lowering margarine. Not only on 4 slices of bread per day, because I do not eat much. And then the operation also less. Unfortunately I have not noticed that my cholesterol has dropped. I regard this as margarine, but a small part in my overall eating habits.

The Netherlands can mean using the maximum of 10 at the proper diet to lower cholesterol. The cholesterol-lowering margarine therefore provides only a very small contribution. On the other hand, should constitute a contribution, "every little bit helps." Look at the overall diet, and then give an opinion whether you want to use margarine. Margarine needed is a response from someone? Vitamins can now get along fine without a game (A, D and E) and essential fatty acids you get from your dinner. It's what you want. Personally, I find another margarine with olive oil (that did not taste) delicious and is healthy. Because I eat a healthy diet, I think I get my cholesterol, but not down, even with the margarine. I have already done everything, so to speak. Even though my cholesterol never been high!
Nathalie
I use Alpro Soya minarine recently, not for my cholesterol, but just because I liked it. 0 holes terol, what more could you want?

do not butter your bread is not a good alternative. according to our dietician you a lot of butter (margarine) on your bread do you need it for your daily vitamin. this is much vitamin d and e. me it seems like the cholesterol-lowering maragarine would be that a drug should be processed or it can not only help lower the cholesterol will rise by no more use
Paulina
It obviously has no sense for cholesterol lowering products and / or olive oil as the bread right invested with fatty meats or cheeses, but there are plenty of healthy alternatives to many raw vegetables and lean meats. If this is the siege, is in my view, every little bit helps, but then consistently maintain!
